College Attendance App
AppLocation based attendance with real-time notifications and Socket.IO.
Problem
Attendance in my classes was still done by shouting names. It wastes five minutes of every lecture, and proxy attendance is impossible to catch. Existing solutions force colleges to buy hardware.
What I built
A React Native (Expo) app where attendance is tied to the classroom's geofence:
- Geofenced check-in — you can only mark yourself present inside the class radius
- Socket.IO live session — the teacher sees check-ins appear in real time
- Late-arrival detection with configurable grace period
- Push notifications when a session starts
Result
Currently in development (v1.0) and being piloted with one section of my own class. Real-time sync works on college Wi-Fi and 4G. This is also what's on my Currently building card — progress lands in the build log as it ships.
